Ozzie Cox (John Malkovich) is a member of the CIA who was fired because always in trouble with alcohol. Dismissal is made Ozzie annoyance and revenge mean hurt. He intended to write a biography that will reveal the ugliness of the CIA.

Apparently the problem is still growing Ozzie, Katie (Tilda Swinton), his wife, asked for a divorce. And what's worse, she even brought out a CD containing biography unfinished Ozzie. Problem became more complicated when Katie accidentally left the CD was in a fitness center.

Chad Feldheimer (Brad Pitt), one of the trainers at the fitness center was later discovered that the CD is left. Chad and Linda Litzke (Frances McDormand), the owner of a fitness center where Chad works and planned to blackmail Ozzie by using the CD.

Elsewhere, Harry Pfarrer (George Clooney), a Federal Marshal, was an affair with the wife Kattie Ozzie. Harry liked mutually boyfriend then accidentally met with Linda via an online dating agency. Harry was eventually could not help but get involved with blackmail scenario that was designed Chad and Linda.

This comedy is the work of two directors Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, who also worked on a successful film NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. Unfortunately this experiment two directors of this film seems to be a bit difficult to digest. The audience were puzzled where this film will be taken. As a result, viewers have to divide their attention between the movie enjoyed it as a joke or a notice that the plot does not become more confused.

Experiments like this joke is the potential to be not funny because the 'cuteness' which is actually loaded from the side of parody which brings the plot and the characters involved. This film is full of parody, especially about the world like a parody of espionage hosted by Mike Myers Austin Powers films.

The only difference between the film BURN AFTER READING is the Austin Powers may be only the translation of foolishness by different actors. Obviously this film is different because the actors and actresses supporters, nota bene, is a serious actors like George Clooney or Brad Pitt.

In short, this movie is not comedy that easily makes you laugh out loud, although it is highly dependent on the sense of humor. Clearly, this film has enough weight in terms of cultivation and acting. Problems can be accepted or not, it seems the director was not too concerned.
