Cast: Colin Firth, Thomas Sangster, Ben Kingsley, Aishwarya Rai, Peter Mullan, Kevin McKidd....
Having ruled for five hundred years, Rome is now in danger of collapsing because of the threat comes from the general Odoacer (Peter Mullan). General Odoacer worth demanding compensation for its support in the Roman army so far. Because the demand was not granted, Odoacer threatened to seize power of the Roman empire.
On the day of Romulus Augustus (Thomas Sangster) is 12 years old should receive the throne of the Roman Empire, barbarian army led by General Odoacer wade in Rome. Orestes (Iain Glen), the father of Romulus, was killed and the town has been under the control of the army general Odoacer.
Odoacer decided not to kill Romulus but send it along with the crown prince Ambrosinus (Ben Kingsley), adviser to the palace, to the island of Capri for the exiled there. Fortunately not all the Roman army successfully suppressed Odoacer. Aurelius (Colin Firth) intended to seek asylum in the Byzantine Empire and with Mira (Aishwarya Rai), the remains of these Roman soldiers were freed Romulus and took him to the Byzantine.
Unfortunately, it was the Byzantine Empire was allied with the general Odoacer and now Aurelius, Romulus Ambrosinus and had no choice but to seek help from the Legion IX in the UK mainland. Just this last Legion hopes this third Romans.
There are indications that THE LAST LEGION is trying to repeat the success achieved 300 starring Gerard Butler in the year 2007. Unfortunately the effort did not seem too successful because the film is certainly not comparable to the 300. At least not from the presentation of this movie feels less biting and memorable casual.
Business mix English mythology of King Arthur with him as if originated from the Roman soil feels less convincing. Or maybe because too many movies that try to tamper with the story of the beginning of the sword Excalibur and King Arthur until the end that emerges is boredom. What is clear is the smell that film trailing only the previous films and the strong smell that is not profitable at all.
Actually there is nothing wrong with this movie casting. Big names such as Colin Firth, Ben Kingsley Aishwarya Rai to the far-away land of Hindustan trafficked from all the cast is reliable. But what's a reliable actor when the script had already lost its fangs. If you're the one who loves the movies of this type you must have got the impression that the dialogue spoken by the characters feel generic. This means that already a lot of similar films that use dialogue.
The result, Ben Kingsley was no different with the characters 'advisor' in the other films even while Colin Firth as Aurelius inappropriate play, the tough warrior. Fortunately Aishwarya Rai is still quite entertaining as Mira.
